SSPH+ Lugano Summer School 2024

The 33rd edition of the Lugano Summer School (LSS) in Public Health Policy, Economics, and Management took place from 19-24 August 2024. This year’s program included 14 courses, 2 plenaries, 2 networking events, 3 exchange sessions, and 1 workshop, ensuring a rich and diverse learning experience.
Planaries
2 plenaries, with keynote addresses by Prof. Martin McKee (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), Prof. Antoine Flahault (University of Geneva and SSPH+), and Dr. Nathalie Jean-Baptiste (Julius Baer Foundation), focused on challenges and opportunities in health systems and global public health, including wealth inequalities and social mobility, disease prevention, and health policy. Plenaries were held in a hybrid format and were free and open to the public.

Hybrid Hubs
Building on the innovations introduced in 2023, the 2024 edition expanded its hybrid learning approach by establishing 5 hybrid hubs (LSS satellites) in Ukraine, Moldova, Kosovo, Somalia, and Pakistan. These hubs allowed participants from these regions to join the program from onsite locations, reducing environmental impact and strengthening local networks.
