A New Model for Ranking Schools of Public Health: The Public Health Academic Ranking
The PHAR is the first university ranking system specifically designed for schools of public health. It’s a bibliometric-based ranking which relies on four criteria:
- Scientific productivity of the School
- Quality of its scientific papers
- Accessibility of its papers to the readers
- Percentage of papers with international collaborations.
On 2024, SSPH+ is ranked 4th out of the 26 ranked schools in this preliminary subset of institutions, just after the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine (LSHTM), the Public Health Foundation of India, and the Harvard Chan School of Public Health (SPH). SSPH+ from its two members, Institute of Global Health (ISG) at the University of Geneva, and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), will continue to work on delivering in 2025 a similar ranking but from a more extended sample of schools worldwide.
The ranking results were published at International Journal of Public Health. The full article you can find here.
