The Swiss Public Health Conference is organized each year by the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) and the Swiss Society for Public Health. Each year, a Swiss academic institution assumes the role of host and takes the scientific-thematic lead.
The Swiss Public Health Conference 2024, held on September 3-4 at the University of Fribourg, brought together around 300 participants to discuss the theme “Strengthening the Culture of Public Health Surveillance.” The event addressed the growing need for robust surveillance in areas such as cancer, environmental risks, and emerging diseases. It explored challenges in defining a reliable health information system and discussed necessary tools for monitoring health risks and healthcare quality. The conference also highlighted the intersection of applied public health, epidemiology, and population health sciences, emphasizing the importance of effective data-driven decision-making.
PhD students, Céline Bolliger (University of Lucerne), Caterina Montagnoli (University of Basel) and Andreas Stoller (University of Fribourg) were awarded for the "Best PhD abstract" at the closing ceremony of the conference. Congratulations!
