Internship "Evidence Generation in Pharmaceutical Industry"
The Medical Evidence function at AstraZeneca is responsible for the planning, development and delivery of evidence generation activities across various therapeutic areas, including observational studies (primary/secondary data), agent-based models, systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses. Studies are routinely conducted in collaboration with academic experts, clinical researchers and database custodians to address evidence gaps relevant to our internal and external stakeholders. As one example, administrative data sources may be leveraged to describe treatment patterns, healthcare resource utilization and clinical outcomes for a particular patient group in one or several countries.
This internship opportunity will be linked to one or more such studies – supporting the design, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of results. The successful candidate may also execute a separate literature review/meta-analysis to evaluate available evidence related to an outstanding clinical question.
The internship will provide in-depth exposure to the application of health outcomes research methods to drug development and commercialization, as part of a Global biopharmaceutical company. The use of observational research for this purpose – linked to the emergence of so-called Real World Evidence (RWE) – is a rapidly growing field. In addition, the student will have the opportunity to expand their soft skills as part of a multi-disciplinary and dynamic regional organization.
