The University of Fribourg, founded in 1889, is the unique bilingual university in Switzerland and encompasses five faculties (Arts and Humanities, Science and Medicine, Economics and Social Sciences, Law, and Theology) with around 10’000 students and 800 professors, lecturers, and assistants. Our University is contributing to the development and the promotion of public health in Switzerland. SSPH+ faculty members are coming from the Faculty of Science and Medicine, from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and from the Faculty of Law. Within the Faculty of Science and Medicine, the Department of Community Health is responsible for teaching and making research in public health, primary care, medical pedagogy, medical humanities, psychiatry, and paediatric, with a community health perspective.
Population Health Laboratory
Within the Department of Community Health, the Population Health Laboratory (#PopHealthLab), led by Prof Arnaud Chiolero, is dedicated to make research in public health, epidemiology, and health services. The #PopHealthLab develops research activities aiming to inform public health surveillance & monitoring to help citizens, health stakeholders, clinicians, and policy makers take data-informed and evidence-based decisions. Research areas are the epidemiology of population health in a life course and consequential perspective and the study of health services activities and quality of care in an evidence-based public health framework. The #PopHealthLab has skills for the handling and analyses of complex data from multiples sources.
