Corona Immunitas

Corona Immunitas executed Phase 5 (March) and 6 (June) in 2022. Phase 5 was conducted by Ticino and Zurich, and Phase 6 by Ticino, Zurich and Vaud. The protocol of Phases 5 and 6 followed the Corona Immunitas protocol with inviting people in the respective cantons who were randomly chosen by the Federal Office of Statistics. Detailed results of Phase 5 were published in Eurosurveillance and the results of Phase 6 will soon be published in the International Journal of Epidemiology. The results were shared immediately with the Federal Office of Public Health and Federal Commission for Vaccinations in summer 2022 and provided, together with the international evidence, an important basis for the vaccination recommendation for autumn/winter 2022/3.

In the spirit of SSPH+, two Post-doc positions were offered through Corona Immunitas, which were able to use the data from Corona Immunitas to help drive the nationally focused "A-Papers". An overview of publications is available on the Corona Immunitas website. The end of 2022 marked the formal completion of studies and the preparation of structures and processes - such as data sharing- "post Corona Immunitas". In spring 2023 the project will be completed - apart from the still ongoing prison study conducted by the team of Murielle Bochud at Unisanté that is also funded through Corona Immunitas funds provided by the Federal Office of Public Health to SSPH+. With the gradual closing of the books, the scope of what has been created and the impact of Corona Immunitas on policy and public becomes apparent.

This must be preserved; the experience of Corona Immunitas shaped and will continue to shape SSPH+ and provide many learnings for a large national cohort as described recently in a white paper. Find out more about corona immunitas on the SSPH+ science in a minute YouTube channel.
