SSPH+ Lugano Summer School

The 32nd edition of the Lugano Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics, and Management (LSS) took place 15-16 and 21-26 August 2023. 191 participants from 5 continents and 57 nations, as well as 46 facilitators from 5 continents came together for a week of 14 courses, 4 plenaries, and several networking events. The diversity in participants, facilitators, and curricula ensured that we met the LSS primary goal of mutual learning for change. Participants had the opportunity to meet and exchange with others from across the world, learn from facilitators and colleagues, share their ideas and projects, and work together towards building effective solutions for public health related challenges. In the 2023 edition, the LSS also took a further step toward innovative and sustainable distance learning by establishing 4 hybrid hubs, LSS satellites, around the world. These hybrid hubs allowed people in Kosovo, Moldova, Somalia, and Ukraine to join the LSS from onsite locations in those countries, reducing our negative environmental impact and building stronger networks within countries. See the full LSS program here.

The project is guided by the steering committee with representatives of SSPH+, USI, SUPSI, and SwissTPH. An Advisory Board was formed including individuals from Fondation Botnar, Health For All Project in Albania, Julius Baer Foundation, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences (A+), National University of Kyiv, and World Bank.

You can see the plenaries from last year on the SSPH+ YouTube channel.

The 2024 edition will run from 19-24 August, offering 16 courses in on-site, online, and hybrid format, as well as 2 plenaries (free and open to the public) and several networking events. Check out the program and other information on our website and LinkedIn
