Frontiers Planet Prize

SSPH+ served as the National Nomination Body for the 2nd edition of the Frontiers Planet Prize (FPP). Throughout the year, we actively encouraged scientific leaders to consider self-nominations, inviting submissions of qualifying research articles co-authored in peer-reviewed literature since November 1, 2021 (accept date). These submissions were evaluated based on their alignment with the prize criteria, which focused on research addressing any one of the 9 planetary boundaries outlined by Professor Johan Rockström in his book and documentary, Breaking Boundaries. The Frontiers Planet Prize aims to recognize excellence in research related to planetary boundaries, offering a National Champion designation for each participating country and three International Champions. These International Champions are selected by an independent Jury of 100 and awarded prizes of CHF 1 million each. SSPH+ Faculty members and scientists employed in the research teams of faculty members were eligible to apply.
