Planaries

Prof. Jo-An Occhipinti, Co-Director of the University of Sydney's Mental Wealth Initiative, addressed the concept of the Mental Wealth of Nations through a provocative presentation that invited participants to think differently about future pathways to economic and societal success. Prof. Dr. Jan Fehr, Head of the Department of Public & Global Health at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute (EBPI), University of Zurich, delivered a thought-provoking talk about the intersections of the health of the planet and the health care system, highlighting areas where healthcare is potentially harming the planet.

Is economic policy making us sick? A path to rebuilding the Mental Wealth of nations

Seminar Series

In 2025, the LSS launched the “LSS Seminar Series: Voices from the LSS Learning Hubs”, giving Hub organizers the opportunity to showcase their expertise and highlight the work of their institutions to a global audience. Colleagues from Pakistan, Kosovo, Vietnam, and Zambia took part in this initiative, each presenting a topic within their field of specialization. These seminars served as an excellent platform to share local experiences, promote institutional visibility, and foster international collaboration across the LSS network. All seminars are available on the LSS YouTube Channel.

LSS Virtual Forest

Launched in 2023, the SSPH+ LSS Forest is an initiative aimed at offsetting the environmental impact of the LSS, particularly emissions associated with participant travel. As of 2025, the forest includes 28 trees, each uniquely assigned to a course participant and that collectively expect to absorb approximately 5.74 tonnes of CO₂ over their lifetime.

Testimonials

PhD Student, Nigeria

The scholarship to participate in the SSPH+ LSS was not merely a financial aid; it was a catalyst for transformation in my career. In one week, it felt as I had travelled the entire world, realizing that countries are defined by people rather than just geographical boundaries.

Health Practitioner, Nepal

Navigating the current political turmoil back home has been challenging, but moments like these provide vital hope and new perspectives. It was a powerful reminder that our challenges, while unique, are part of a larger, shared global mission.
