SSPH+ Public Health Engine
The SSPH+ Public Health Engine, a formalised collaboration between the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and SSPH+, continues to serve as a bridge for exchange between academics and public health authorities. A joint core group of members from FOPH and SSPH+ holds regular meetings to exchange information on main activities and to align on developments and needs in the Swiss public health field. In addition, yearly in-person meetings between the Directorates and key staff of both organizations (including the Director of FOPH) explore strategic collaborations for ongoing and emerging public health challenges in Switzerland.
To better serve the FOPH and other public health stakeholders, SSPH+ has invested in the digital transformation of its internal knowledge management. This new IT system builds on SSPH+ expert database to establish up-to-date profiles of research activities of our 250 SSPH+ faculty members and other actors in the Public Health research field. The tool can also map the Swiss Public Health research landscape or sub-specialties based on customized criteria and queries. These upgrades allow for faster and more precise matching of specific public health demands with the corresponding academic expertise across the 14 SSPH+ partner universities.
This streamlined Public Health Engine ensures that Swiss public health policy can be supported by the most reliable, up-to-date, and scientifically rigorous expertise available.
