Geneva Health Forum

The Geneva Health Forum (GHF) is the forum for innovative practices in global health. Created in 2006, it is organized by the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG) and the University of Geneva in partnership with 24 global health organizations and SSPH+. The 2022 edition of the Geneva Health Forum was held in Geneva from 3-5 May, with a focus on the theme “Covid-19 Pandemic and Environmental Emergency: Reinventing Global Health in times of Global Changes”. The parallel sessions included presentations and discussions on topics such as; digital health, health financing, health systems strengthening, mental health, and non-communicable diseases, among others. See the full program of the GHF here.

SSPH+ Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Antoine Flahauhlt and directorate member Dr. Emily Reeves were speakers at this conference, giving an insight into the role of SSPH+ in strengthening public health in Switzerland (see list of all speakers here). Notably, SSPH+ played an especially important role at the conference as it co-organized a science speed talk competition, which aimed to provide an opportunity for early-career researchers to showcase their research on health equity issues. The competition was open to young researchers from around the world. Four doctoral students had to present their research work in front of the public in three minutes in the most interesting and clear way possible. At the end of the presentations, the public voted for the most outstanding presentation. The four candidates received coaching from a communication specialist, Awa Badington-Ashaye from the University of Geneva. The winner of the Science Speed Talk competition was PhD student, Kirubel Mussie from the University of Basel. Watch the Science Speed Talks here.
